The Collected Songs for Soprano and Guitar by Roland Chadwick

Since the summer of 2014 the American Soprano, Jayne Sylvester and Roland have been busy recording the collected songs of Roland Chadwick and we’re proud to present them here for you.

Two Songs of Old are the earliest product written in the mid 1980′s in Sydney whilst under the influence of Vaughan Williams and English Folk song.

Songs of the Veil were written shortly after in response to the poems of Edward Lucie-Smith and Phillip Larkin.

It was in the early 2000′s that Craig Ogden asked Roland to arrange Shenandoah for a CD he was making with David Daniels, the American Counter Tenor.

And most recently in 2014 Roland completed Like Honey Thickly Golden  on the poems especially written for him by Rachel Munro. Sadly Rachel passed away before she was able to hear them in this form. The set is dedicated to Roland’s first teacher, Peter Andrews.

Like Honey Thickly Golden are settings of  poems by the late Australian Poet, Rachel Munro.  Roland and Rachel were friends in the late eighties and she wrote this set of poems for Roland to set to music. Nothing happened till November 2013 when in a flurry of inspiration Roland completed these songs inside of a week.
